Even though Apple is replacing the third-generation iPad, the iPad 2 still exists at $399 (16GB storage, Wi-Fi only) and the mini plus the fourth-generation iPad give Apple a spectrum of price points from $329 to $829, depending on size, storage and cellular connectivity. LONDON Oct 23 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs is lining up a future eight-storey building beside its London office as the site of its new European headquarters, according to confidential documents referring to project "Armada".

The bank purchased the second of two office blocks occupying the site of the new campus last year. But it has never confirmed it will move into the site adjacent to its current HQ on Fleet Street, the district which was the hub for Britain's newspapers until the 1980s when legal and financial firms moved in.

Over 100 pages of technical drawings and data seen by Reuters show a clear assumption that Goldman plans to consolidate its London operations into the new building, which is 1.2 million square feet.

The bank is simultaneously pressing ahead with plans to group its Bangalore offices together in a major new back-office centre housing 4,000 staff, codenamed "Big Bang."

"GS London and Bangalore campuses are currently not consolidated, obstructing collaboration among the GS employees and duplicating infrastructure requirements," the report by architect Adamson Associates said.

"Armada and Big Bang projects provide an opportunity for resolution of this situation," it said.

A Goldman Sachs spokeswoman declined to comment.

The London project has faced some hurdles. The site acquired by Goldman includes a building that was London's largest telephone exchange when it opened in 1961 and the bank needed special permission to remove protected murals from it.

The bank had argued that the nine ceramic panels by relatively unknown artist Dorothy Annan were not rare. But the murals were listed by the government as being of national importance and special interest as surviving works of 1960s mural art.

Goldman also had to promise telecoms firm BT Group that it would get access to current telecoms tunnels during and after construction.

The designs for the new London office include fan and generator rooms that can be used to power trading operations and a 50 square metre area for secure waste and shredding. There are also details on how much shower, locker and bicycle parking space will be included in the new building.

So this is my story?

I went to the Career Expo around 11:15 am, with the goal in mind of visiting as many booths as possible before my 2:15 pm class. I did not have a specific order planned, of which booth I would visit first, but I did have in mind the companies I wanted to visit and where were they located. ?And of course, I had my resume in hand; the one I worked on several times during the semester.

When I stepped in the ICI center I was really surprised by the amount of people wearing suits, which I found pretty interesting. [This not being the first career fair/expo I visit, I was expecting fewer guys in suits and more long sleeve and ties.] But this was not what surprised me the most, as through the couple of hours I spent there, I saw some things that caught my attention. Some of the awkward things I saw include the following:

  • A girl properly dressed but with a huge nose ring.
  • A resume printed in a paper with the USA Flag as background.
  • Guys wearing suits with running shoes.

And that?s just to mention a few?

?

Well, going back to my story, I visited four booths: Tesla Motors, Boeing, GE Aviation, and Rolls Royce.? Four booths in three hours, just because I didn?t expect the lines to be as long as they were. The sad part was not having to do a long line, but doing a long line and be told that you have to apply online. I honestly believe, that having to apply online totally defeats the purpose of going to the career expo. I?m sure everyone who went there can testify that recruiters are not there to promote their company, as they expect you to have a good background of what they do and be able to develop a good conversation.

In overall, even when there were a couple of things I didn?t like, I still believe it was a great experience. Career expos give students an opportunity to network with the business world and easily open doors to a better, more productive, professional future.

PS. I would suggest for Career Expos to be held on a Saturday, as I know of many students who were not able to go due to class conflicts.
