WILMINGTON, N.C. ? A scientist who worked on the Mars orbiters is scheduled to speak about his work o an astronomy group Sunday in Wilmington.
The StarNews of Wilmington reported that Dr. R. Todd Clancy speaks at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wilmington, 4313 Lake Ave., across from Roland-Grise Middle School.
He plans to speak to the Cape Fear Astronomical Society at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Wilmington. The topic is ?Roving the Surface of Mars: Past the Future.? The public is invited.
Clancy is a senior scientist with the Space Science Institute. The Raleigh native worked on experiments for the Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Much of his research on Martian climate and atmospheric chemistry is based on work from Earth-based telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope.
Clancy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology.
